Subject lineUpcoming Music and Performing Arts Films at NW Film Forum

Hi [insert name of contact],

My name is Ian Sanquist. I'm a volunteer at the Northwest Film Forum, a community film center on Capitol Hill dedicated to building social connections, exploring creativity, and engaging curiosity through the medium of film.

I wanted to reach out to tell you about some upcoming films focusing on music and performance art. I hope you'll share this note with your community.

November 12 & 21-23
Creating a unique mix of punk, emo and trap, Lil Peep was on the verge of bringing a new musical genre to the mainstream when he died of a drug overdose at 21. From the streets of Long Beach and Los Angeles to studios in London and sold out tours in Russia, the artist born Gustav Ahr touched countless lives as he wrestled with what it meant to be Lil Peep. Executive produced by Terrence Malick.

After renouncing his long-held Christian beliefs and leaving his critically-acclaimed band Pedro the Lion, musician David Bazan retreated into a solitary life. A decade later, Bazan has become a reluctant prophet to Americans reeling from their country's own crisis of faith highlighted by the 2016 election.
David Bazan in attendance for all screenings except Monday & Tuesday matinees

A tall, handsome “preacher” – his knuckles tattooed with “love” and “hate” – roams the countryside, spreading the gospel… and leaving a trail of murdered women. He believes the work of the Lord has more to do with condemning souls than saving them. Now his sights are set on $10,000 – and two little children who know where it's hidden. Live score by local marimba maestro Erin Jorgensen.

November 24 & 27
Linda Ronstadt guides us through her youth in Tucson, singing Mexican canciones with her family; her folk days with the Stone Poneys; and her reign as the “queen of country rock” in the ‘70s and early ’80s. She was a pioneer and champion for women in the male-dominated music industry as well as a passionate advocate for human rights.
